Virtually all PRINTED MATERIAL has at one time or another included advertising e.g. newspapers, magazines, programmes, calenders, FLYERS, packaging, carrier bags, postmarks, etc. SIGNS of various kinds have been specifically devoted to advertising. These include hanging objects (representing the stock in trade of for instance cobbler or CHEMIST shops), posters, hoardings, tin/aluminium/ plastic and glass signs, painted gable ends, windows, facias,vehicles, balloons, etc.
BROADCASTS (the earliest being the human voice of the HAWKER), include in modern times, radio, video, television, cinema, while aeroplane banners, theatre firecurtains and sandwich boards are examples of the more obscure manifestations of advertising space.
